Σας στέλνω e-mail από το Βιετνάμ όπου είμαι εθελόντρια και διδάσκω εθελοντικά και δωρεάν αγγλικά, σε ένα σχολείο, το οποίο έχει φτιαχτεί επίσης από εθελοντές για τα πιο φτωχά παιδιά της περιοχής.
Τα παιδιά αυτά δουλεύουν όλο το βράδυ και πολλές φορές με λίγες ώρες ύπνου πάνε στο σχολείο . Παρόλο που είναι ακόμα παιδιά έχουν την ωριμότητα να κατανοήσουν το πόσο σημαντικό είναι να πάνε σχολείο για να μπορέσουν να ξεφύγουν από αυτήν την κατάσταση.
Το κρατικό σχολείο, που πρέπει να παρακολουθήσουν για να μπορέσουν να συνεχίσουν τις σχολικές τάξεις, κοστίζει 45 δολάρια το χρόνο για κάθε παιδί, ένα ποσό που δεν μπορούν αυτά τα παιδιά να πληρώσουν και θα πρέπει να έχουν πληρώσει μέχρι 6 Σεπτεμβρίου!
Αυτό το μήνυμα δεν είναι άλλο ένα "βοηθήστε τα φτωχά παιδιά της Αφρικής"-μήνυμα. Αυτά τα παιδιά βρίσκονται μπροστά μου κάθε μέρα και οι ανάγκες τους είναι πολύ συγκεκριμένες και εσύ και εγώ μπορούμε -με λίγα λεφτά- να κάνουμε μια μεγάλη αλλαγή στην ζωή τους. Μπορούμε να τους δώσουμε την ευκαιρία να σπουδάσουν και έτσι να μπορέσουν μια μέρα να σταματήσουν να ζούνε στον δρόμο αλλά να ζήσουν και αυτοί μια αξιόλογοι ζωή.

I am writing to you today from Mui Ne, Vietnam where I am volunteering as an english teacher. I knew I was in for a challenge, but I was expecting a different kind. Today the biggest difficulty that I face, is leaving the children at the end of each day, knowing that many of them will spend their night picking up garbage or selling lotto tickets in the street. And here is where I make you feel guilty, as you read this from your comfy office or living room. For the cost of the coffee you¢re currently sipping, one of these kids can go to school, get off the street and have a chance at living a productive and meaningful life. This is not a television commercial with little naked children in some far-flung part of the world; these children are right here in front of me everyday, their needs are concrete and you and I can affect serious positive change in their lives for relatively no cost. By the end of August 80 children need to be able to afford to continue on at a public school (45Euro for the year per student), or else they will be unable to have a chance to attend university. Please find attached a few students¢ profiles that I have created for you to have a better understanding of the life these children face each day. These
are good kids, that genuinely want to better themselves through education, but their families simply cannot afford to give them steady meals let alone pay for their schooling. Donations in any amount go a long way toward giving these children a better life.
